Robert B. Smith
Robert specializes in the defense of automobile personal injury claims, premises liability claims, as well as the defense of physicians, dentists, nurses, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and assisted living facilities. He has extensive experience defending developers, general contractors and sub-contractors in construction defect litigation in both California and Nevada and has also handled numerous cases involving disputes between homeowners and HOA’s, neighbors and developers.
Robert has defended cases in California and Nevada for AIG, CNA, GMAC, USAA, Raleys, St. Paul’s, Rite Aid, National Fire and Marine Insurance, ProAssurance Casualty, Robert Moreno Insurance Services, Wawanesa Insurance Company, Sequoia Insurance Company, Ensign Services Inc., Encompass, Zurich U.S., Alamo, National and Enterprise car rental companies. He has successfully tried numerous jury trials and arbitrations.
Robert graduated from Sacramento State University in 1994, with a Bachelor’s Degree in History. He studied law at the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, where he was a member of the Traynor Honor Society and the Dean’s Honor Roll. Robert is licensed to practice law in both Nevada and California. He currently conducts training seminars for dentists and dental offices insured by CNA.
Prior to attending law school, Robert worked as a middle school and high school history teacher in Sacramento, California. In 2005, following law school, Robert joined Nevada’s largest insurance defense firm where he focused on the defense of physicians, hospitals, nurses and dentists. In 2007, Robert joined Lauria Tokunaga Gates & Linn as an associate attorney and became an equity partner with the firm in 2014.
